Date: 3 November 2009
Hosts: Chris & Gillian
Group: 12 people
The venue was lovely - old house with a courtyard & a bath lol.
I think everyone agrees that it was nice, but from their website we expected a lot more.
Most used line of the evening: Sorry we're out of stock
One of our group members had to change her main course as they had run out of Rump steak - and the rump was delicious! We also managed to get 1 piece of Malva pudding before they ran out of that..and not even to mention the beers which they must have had 1 bottle of each in their fridges.
But if you look past that, we had a very enjoyable evening and everything from the stuffed mushrooms to the lamb and curry was delicious!
Venue - lovely
Food - good when in stock
Service - average
We made the most of it and had yet another great dinner!

I agree with Craigs assesment as below;
" A Touch of Madness
I was sitting there reading the newspaper when suddenly I realised the difference between the JSE and A Touch of Madness...
THE JSE HAS STOCK FOR EVERYONE !!!!!
It started as an enjoyable evening but took a turn in the complete opposite direction, when there was a lack of stock in not only the bar but also the kitchen.
1 Windhoek light, 2 Miller, no Kudu loin, not enough Rump steak to complete the main order, 1 Malva pudding !!!!!!!
This resulted in people changing their drinks and food orders.
The beers could be changed for the sake of wanting to have a drink.
However its not as if one could change your meat order to the kudu loin as there wasn't any of that either. which leaves you with no steak for the evening.
1 Malva pudding was ordered at our table. The rest could only stare as there was only one in stock too.
The person in our group that had ordered it was offering it to people because he at least wanted them to get a taste.
You have your thoughts that you may have caught them on a bad night.
But a booking for our relatively large group had been made in the previous week.
Its not just as if we all just jumped in our cars and decided to drive around till we found a place.
(trust me you would have to decide to go there otherwise you would not find it.)
On a brighter side the outside area was very cozy and probably one of the better places to be seated on such a lovely evening.
I was one of the unlucky ones with the alcohol but was lucky enough to get a steak order in time.
My meal in particular was relatively good.
I do however feel that the food could have been much warmer and the beers colder.
My overall rating for A Touch of Madness is: 4/10
